Leadership
Kahu Tyson “Alika” Balmoja has faithfully served as the shepherd of Auwaiolimu Church since November 18, 2018. What began as a Sunday to fill the pulpit has blossomed into a season of profound growth, love, and discipleship under his leadership.
Kahu Alika is a man of deep faith, unwavering dedication, and a heart that beats for the Lord and His people. He has demonstrated a passion for teaching God’s Word, preaching through entire books of the Bible with clarity, wisdom, and a commitment to helping the church apply Scripture to their daily lives. His sermons are not just messages but life-giving truths that challenge, encourage, and draws the church closer to Christ.
Before joining Auwaiolimu Congregational Church, Kahu Alika served in various ministries that shaped his heart for discipleship and pastoral care. He began his ministry as a chaplain for the Salvation Army, where he learned to serve with compassion and humility. He later led a group of young men at “The Hope House,” mentoring them and equipping them to answer the call to pastoral ministry. Additionally, he served as a worship leader/pastor at the Upper Room Church, where he cultivated a deep love for worship and the fellowship of believers.
Kahu Alika’s love for the church is evident in every aspect of his ministry. He shepherds the congregation with care, always ready to pray, encourage, and walk alongside them in both joyful and challenging seasons. His heart for discipleship has inspired many to grow in their faith, and his leadership has created a culture of love, unity, and mission within the church.
Auwaiolimu is also grateful for the support and partnership of his beautiful wife, Erica, and their son, Alaka’i. Together, they have been a blessing to the church family, modeling a life of faith, hospitality, and service.
1 Peter 5: 2-3: “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
Kahu Alika embodies this calling with humility, love, and a genuine desire to see everyone grow in their relationship with Christ.
